As autumn reaches its golden peak, Tibet enters the best season for mountain viewing. On October 5th, 120 climbers from across China, accompanied by over 30 high-altitude guides, successfully summited Luodui Peak at an altitude of 6,010 meters, witnessing the magnificent snow-capped landscape. This climbing expedition, part of the 21st China Tibet Mountaineering Conference in 2024, not only provided an opportunity for climbers to challenge themselves and push their limits but also further promoted the development of mountaineering in Tibet.
At 4:00 a.m. that day, the climbers participating in the Luodui Peak adventure gathered and set off for the mountain. After an hour’s drive, they reached the snowline at 5,600 meters. With the help of their guides, they equipped themselves and began the ascent.
After several hours of climbing, the first group of climbers reached the summit at 9:38 a.m. On the peak, two high-altitude guides were patiently helping Yang Zuwen, a student from the Sports Institute of Tibet Minzu University, adjust his footwear.
Yang Zuwen, Student, Sports Institute of Tibet Minzu University:
“Due to my own inadequate preparation, snow got into my boots, and my socks were a bit wet. The guides noticed this and immediately took measures to help me warm up. It was really thoughtful. This event has been amazing, and I am very grateful to the guides—everyone was responsible and professional.”
Following this, the rest of the climbers safely reached the summit of Luodui Peak at 6,010 meters. On the summit, the golden sun shone on the pristine snow, and the breathtaking snow-capped scenery left every successful climber feeling both awestruck and overjoyed.
Throughout the climb, many participants displayed tremendous perseverance and determination. They encouraged and helped each other, overcoming the challenges of high altitude and low oxygen to ultimately reach the summit, embodying the spirit of Tibetan mountaineering.

“At one point, I felt really exhausted, but I kept pushing through. When I reached the summit, I was so emotional that I almost cried! The event was well-organized, the logistics were well-coordinated, the guides were highly professional, and there were doctors checking our oxygen levels and monitoring our health daily. The all-around support was incredible.”
It was reported that the day before the summit, the climbers received technical guidance from the high-altitude guides at the 5,600-meter snowline. To ensure the safety of all participants, the expedition was equipped with professional mountaineering gear and a highly skilled support team. The guides, with extensive climbing experience from both domestic and international expeditions, provided comprehensive training and guidance to the climbers. Additionally, doctors from the Second People’s Hospital of the Autonomous Region accompanied the group throughout, offering timely medical support.
The traditional route up Luodui Peak, known for its moderate difficulty and stunning natural beauty, attracted many mountaineering enthusiasts. The successful completion of this expedition not only injected new energy into the development of mountaineering in Tibet but also served as an important platform for fostering communication and integration among various ethnic groups.
With this, the Luodui Peak Mountaineering Adventure, a sub-event of the 21st China Tibet Mountaineering Conference in 2024, came to a successful conclusion.
